March 2026 Recap
I’m making good on my promise (mostly to myself) not to post my “good” photos to social media anymore. March was a really long month, full of kitchen renovations made longer by having a cold that caused me to cough so much I damaged my vocal cords temporarily.
Starting last October, I made a rule that I would go for a walk for at least 20 minutes a day, no matter the weather. Even when it was -30ÂșC out? Yes. During a snowstorm? That’s happened a couple of times! When I was really tired and the thought of going outside was daunting? Especially on those days. No days off!
This was in part instigated by several studies related to walking and health, but also because I just plain like being outside and I’m tired of being a hermit in the winter.
Every time I stepped out of the house and started walking, I remembered, “oh right, I love being outside.” There hasn’t been a bad walk yet.
Amidst the chaos and endless dust of renovations, I kept up my commitment to spend 20+ minutes outdoors doing some sort of physical activity per day. This has been walking for the most part, but I’m looking forward to getting ye olde bike out of storage and cruising around the neighbourhood. The snow will let up soon. I have to believe this.
For March, I added a layer of complexity to my walks, which I wasn’t able to 100% stick to but I did really, really try: take a photo per walk. Not on my phone. A real photo on my real camera. (The cell phone camera is make-believe, I guess). My brain is on its best behaviour when it’s occupied either by taking a photo or I’m on a walk. So why not combine them?
This resulted in an absolute bounty of images to be considered for my Offline Print Club, which is more topical now than ever since I’m not stuffing my photos onto an app where nobody cares and everything is worthless (have I become too jaded?).
So I present to you – my dear, loyal reader and appreciator of my images – the photos I took in March, minus the one I selected for Print Club, of course. As always, that image won’t be found on the Internet. We have to keep things special somehow.
Maybe that’s my new philosophy: keep things special somehow. Who knows.
Let’s hope it doesn’t take me as long to post April’s photos.
