Decidedly Restless

I found out yesterday I’m eligible for vacation pay. This is an entirely new experience for me and I’m really enjoying it.

I think I must be benefitting off of the economic downturn. I left for a whole month back in November to bum around Peru. Now, in two weeks, I’m leaving for another month-long stay, this time in Nicaragua. Through these trips, I’ve kept my job just simply because there are enough people who work for the same company I do who are looking for extra hours and are more than willing to take my shifts until I come back.

If it weren’t for the fact that a lot of people out there can’t find jobs or have lost a lot of money through the recession, I’d wish the economy would just stay where it is. That would be rude though.

I’m leaving pretty quickly, just one more week to go before I’m visiting Carly and two weeks before I find myself in Nicaragua and I’m more restless to travel now than I was when there were no immediate travel plans in my future. A sure sign of this is the website you’re likely looking at at this very moment. I completely geeked out on my travelogue and got it it’s own domain name. Right now, I’m resisting the urge to start packing. No really.

I’ve written about this before, in other blogs, but it’s just one of those things that’s such a fond memory, you’ll likely hear it many more times before I kick the bucket at the ripe old age of 150. I’ll be touted as a medical miracle, but you’ll say to yourself, “Thank god. I don’t think I could have heard that packing story again.”

Well, here it is… When I was a little kid, as pictured above, I would pack that white suitcase all the time. I would usually do it about once a day, but sometimes, I would sit on the floor for a hour or two unpacking and repacking to make sure it was perfect. I didn’t have anywhere I had to be, but how would it look if an opportunity arose for travel and adventure and I wasn’t ready at a moment’s notice?

Nothing makes me more restless for travel than the following video though. Any time I feel like I need to light a fire under my ass to get trips planned, I watch it. There’s nothing like dancing to convey a sense of happiness and there’s nothing like doing so with a bunch of complete strangers all of the globe to make people smile.
