Off to Jordan!
Last year, I came across a poster that said, “Dig in Jordan.” I was sold immediately.
Aside from the fact that the site looks like it will be incredibly interesting, I have always, always wanted to visit the Middle East. When I was a kid, I would sit flipping through my parents’ old National Geographics and the articles that really pulled me were set in Middle Eastern countries. The Arabian style, the spice markets, the minarets, and imagining being awoken by the Call to Prayer.
It took some convincing to my family, but they let me go to Nicaragua on my first trip outside the safety of the Canadian border, so there was definitely some leeway there.
My flight leaves at 10pm tomorrow night for London, then Vienna, and finally Amman. I’m hoping I manage to get through the flights without much sickness, but if not, I have enough Gravel to keep my body pacified until I land. I’m not missing this trip for the world!
Jordan, home to the ancient city of Petra, the luxury of the Gulf of Aqaba, and the wonders of the Dead Sea. I can’t wait!
