We have been picking up some favourite words to use here and there. The latest one to be added to our vocabulary is, “hafla,” which means, “party.” Stephanie, Rainbow, and I were sitting having tea with the ATC guards when a couple of young boys, relatives of a member of the guard staff, walk up…

Stephanie: How old are you?

Young boy: I just finished high school. I’m eighteen.

Stephanie: You’re eighteen?? Hafla!!

  1. Speaking of Arabic. One the train today I heard Arabic. This sweaty little boy kept falling on me talking with his friends in Arabic. I was annoyed at first, but then started thinking about Jordan again when I heard them speak it.
